POS billing software for fast retail billing
Billing is the core of Vanikra. Scan or search, add the line, take the payment, hand over the invoice. Prices and taxes come from the product catalogue, so the cashier never has to remember them, and every bill updates stock, customers and reports.
What is POS billing software?
POS billing software creates a customer's bill inside a point-of-sale system: products are added by barcode scan or search, price and tax are applied from the product record, the total is calculated, the payment is recorded and an invoice is generated. Because it is part of the POS, the same bill also reduces stock and updates customer history and reports.
How billing works in Vanikra
Six steps at the counter; the last one happens by itself.
- Step 1
Find the product
Scan its barcode, or type part of the name or SKU. The product record supplies the price, tax setting and current stock.
- Step 2
Build the bill
Add lines, adjust quantities. For products with variants (size, colour, storage), pick the variant so the right stock is reduced.
- Step 3
Attach the customer
Optional. Select an existing customer or add a new one so the sale appears in their purchase history.
- Step 4
Record payment
Cash, a digital method, or a combination. The payment is stored against the bill.
- Step 5
Generate the invoice
The invoice is created and the sale is complete.
- Step 6
Everything else updates
Stock reduces, the customer's history grows, and today's sales, orders and revenue update on the dashboard.
What the billing screen is designed for
Speed under queue pressure
The fewest steps from scan to invoice. Nothing is typed except, occasionally, a quantity. Barcode billing →
Accuracy
No hand-typed prices or totals. Price and tax come from the product record every time.
Variants and serial numbers
Fashion stores bill by size and colour; electronics stores attach a serial number to the line. Products →
Multiple payment methods
Cash, digital, or a mix, recorded per bill for clean reconciliation. Payments →
Customer on the bill
Attach a customer and the purchase is in their history for returns, service and repeat visits. Customers →
Reports from the bill
Today's sales, orders, revenue and top products are built from bills, not a night-time tally. Reports →
Why billing from a product catalogue matters
When prices and taxes live on the product record rather than in the cashier's head, three things improve at once: bills are faster because nothing is typed except quantity; bills are consistent because every counter uses the same price; and reports are trustworthy because each line refers to a real product with a real stock count. Changing a price once in product management changes it at every bill from then on.

GST on the bill
Retail prices in India are typically quoted inclusive of GST, and each product's tax setting determines how tax is handled on the bill. Vanikra stores the tax setting on the product record and applies it when the item is billed.
If you need a specific GST invoice format (GSTIN, HSN codes, CGST/SGST/IGST split), confirm the exact fields with sales before you decide; we do not promise a format on this page without confirming it against the product.
Billing questions
What is POS billing software?
POS billing software is the part of a point-of-sale system that creates the bill: it adds products by scan or search, applies price and tax from the product record, calculates the total, records the payment and generates the invoice. In Vanikra, billing also updates stock, customer history and reports.
What is the difference between billing software and POS billing software?
Standalone billing software produces invoices and usually stops there. POS billing is connected to inventory, customers, payments and reports, so one bill updates all of them. See POS software vs billing software.
Can I bill without a barcode scanner?
Yes. Products can be added by searching their name or SKU. A scanner speeds things up and Vanikra supports it, but it is not required.
How are taxes applied on a bill?
Each product carries a tax setting in the product catalogue, and the bill applies it automatically when the item is added. Product setup is described on the product management page.
Can a customer pay part cash and part digital?
Vanikra records multiple payment methods, so a bill can be settled with more than one method. See payment management.
